There are 3 parts of the Ready-Set-System:

1.Ready-Set-FOCUS.

This system includes Our Family Focus binder and TACA’s (Talk About Curing Autism Now) Journey Guide.

Our family focus binder is designed to be a resource for the entire family. Typically one parent or caregiver is dealing with all of the therapies involved with treating a child with Autism. This binder provides the organization needed to continue services at all costs.

Included in the binder is our HUGE checklist. The purpose of the checklist is to assist you in taking the proactive steps necessary to start your treatment plan NOW. Contact me when available!

This is much more than a simple binder. Often the paper work and phone calls that need to be made during the time of diagnosis are endless. The Focus System will provide you with the organizational tools needed to give you more time to focus on what’s important, spending time with your child.

Picture Exchange Communication SystemComing Fall of 2009!!

2. Ready-Set-COMMUNICATE!

It all starts with pictures!! Most young children with autism are unable to talk and have receptive language issues (problems with auditory processing spoken words into meaning). However, many are successful at understanding and interpreting a picture. For this reason, many children on the Spectrum begin communicating through PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). This system allows you to work on many things, expressive language (talking and or expressing want and needs), pointing (making choices), and eye contact (making connections) with parents and caregivers. NO matter what end of the spectrum, verbal or not, all kids can benefit from starting with pictures.

Our system comes ready to use. Our Pictures are 2x2 photographic images with the written word on it and Velcro already attached. These are not your typical laminated pictures they are made of a state of the art, durable plastic cards. These pictures are housed in a 5x81/2 cloth binder, with five durable poly pages, handles for easy travel, and a much needed zipper which not only keeps the photos in the binder but can help your child work on fine motor skills.

Leslie (parent): When my son was younger and wanted a drink, he was unable to verbally express his need in the form of the spoken word, “drink”, “cup” or “juice”. Instead he removed a wallet sized picture of a sippy cup from our refrigerator door and handed it to me. He was “exchanging” a picture for the item. He was communicating through pictures. Just try finding a complete PECS package for your home and travel! Let me tell ya, it ain’t easy. You can buy starter kits and add on’s but there is still printing, laminating and velcroing to do. As a parent, your time needs to be spent interacting with your child. This is the only PEC system around of its kind! Contact me when available!

3. Ready-Set-DISCOVER!

The best early intervention families can provide within their own home is to Play and interact with their children! Did you know that by playing with your child, you can make a difference in the core impairments of a child with Autism? For example, by using a toy you can motivate your child to make connections, via eye contact, pointing and joint attention. These are the first three major obstacles that children with autism must overcome to progress. So what is the perfect toy? It is different for every child. But we have included 3 products that have made a difference in lives of many children with Autism. There was only one company that we contacted to provide these imperative educational tools and that was Discovery Toys, Inc. We chose DT due to their commitment to families, education, desire to help, enthusiasm and safety. Plus we love their motto: Play with your children every day, it is the best investment you will ever make! Contact me when available!
